New Chair of Board for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust

Fife Sports and Leisure Trust will be chaired by Ritchie Campbell, a chartered accountant with an impressive professional track record.

Replacing, Keith Punler, who presided as chair for three years, Campbell brings with him a wealth of experience from both the business and sports sectors. He served as a non-executive director for Sportscotland for eight years and was chair of the audit committee for four. In addition, Campbell served as chair of Sportsmatch and chaired the awards panel for the Scottish Sport Sponsorship Awards in 2005.

A keen sportsman, Campbell has taken his involvement in various sports from participation to administrative support. He has served as president of the Scottish Badminton Union, vice president of European Badminton Union and until recently, finance director of Badminton GB Ltd. Currently serving as finance director of the European Badminton Union.

Ritchie Campbell said: “Throughout my professional career I have been interested in sport and have been lucky enough to have held a number of positions which have allowed me to become involved on a local, national and international level. As a practicing chartered accountant, I have been responsible for a wide range of clients and involved in various national professional organisations. I am very much looking forward to my role as chair and continuing to be involved in the Trusts ongoing development.

Welcoming his appointment, Fife Sports and Leisure Trust chief executive Ed Watson, said: “Ritchie’s appointment as chair is a great addition for the Trust and we are very much looking forward to working with him and benefiting from his wealth of experience. His experience in business and sport are directly relevant to our organisation and will help us deliver our business objectives of providing affordable, quality sports and leisure opportunities for local communities.”
