Competitive sports are a great way of getting some exercise. There are loads of sports to try and not all of them involve travel or expensive equipment. Running is the simplest form of exercise, no equipment required just shorts t-shirt and the great outdoors. There are lots of local running races across Fife from 5k fun runs to half marathons.
Swimming
Swimming requires both strength and stamina, and you do have to able to swim of course! There are lots of pools across Fife to give this fun sport a try.
Football
Football is a great sport for all round fitness, involving stamina, skill and coordination. It is an inexpensive way of getting involved in sports as a ball and some space is the only requirement.
Racquet Sports
Tennis and badminton are popular racquet sports. You can hire all the equipment you need at your local centre. If you are under 17, look out for the Quid a Kid Racquet Sports offers available during school holidays where you can play lots of different racquet sports for just £1!
Trying a variety of sports is the key as you will develop a good solid base of general fitness to build on as you go through life and who knows you may find a sport you really enjoy and want to take up competitively.
