500-Mile Challenge at Carnegie Leisure Centre Raises Over £9,000 for Local Charity
On Friday 26th May, the Carnegie Leisure Centre in Fife witnessed an inspiring display of determination as 13 members of the public took part in a group challenge, organised by Jamie McDonough, to push their physical limits by running and cycling a combined distance of 500 miles to support two important charities: Wee Jamie’s Journey and Prostate Cancer UK. This incredible effort resulted in an outstanding total of £9,235, which will help to improve the lives of those affected by these causes.
Wee Jamie’s Journey is a Dunfermline-based charity close to Jamie McDonough’s heart that supports 3-year-old Jamie Beveridge, who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in March 2022. DMD is a muscle-wasting disease that affects muscles in the body including the lungs heart and brain. The funds raised from this event will go towards improving Jamie’s quality of life and providing the family with much-needed support during these challenging times.
