    Work placements and volunteer opportunities

    We are committed to helping individuals find meaningful employment opportunities. We have partnered with various organisations to provide work placements for those who may require additional support in their job search or need assistance managing their health conditions as they embark on their work journey. While there is no guarantee of permanent employment after a work placement, we encourage individuals to apply for any available positions and register for casual work.

    Current Training Courses

    Fife has a shortage of Leisure Attendants and Swimming Instructors. The NPLQ or SSTQ courses will unlock many employment opportunities for those aged 16 and over.

    Leisure Attendants – NPLQ

    To become a Leisure Attendant, you need to complete a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. This is a 36-hour, 5-day course that costs £280.

    NPLQ Trainer/Assessor

    Become a Trainer/Assessor responsible for delivering the RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) as part of ongoing training for new candidates. This is a 36-hour, 5-day course that costs £650.

    Course Requirements:
    • Be a minimum of 18 years old
    • Hold a current NPLQ certificate
    • Be a member or become a member of RLSS UK

    Swimming Teachers – SSTQ

    The Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ) course, delivered by Scottish Swimming, will give you the tools you need to start your career as a swimming instructor. This is an 8-day course that costs £600. All dates in the course timetable must be attended to in order to complete the course and obtain your qualification.
