After more than a year of transformation, Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre reopened its doors on Monday 29th September 2025, and the welcome back from our community was incredible! 

The centre has been completely reimagined as a vibrant hub for fitness, wellbeing, learning, and community. With brand-new fitness spaces, refreshed health and wellbeing facilities, and more opportunities for children and families, there’s something for everyone. Plus, with Cowdenbeath Library now located inside the venue, visitors can enjoy fitness, learning, and community all under one roof. 

A Warm Welcome Back 

It was only fitting that the doors were reopened by our long-serving Duty Manager, Andy, affectionately known by the community as “Mr Cowdenbeath.” Having been the one to close the centre 18 months ago, Andy was back bright and early at 6am to proudly welcome the very first customers through the doors. After 38 years with Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, it was a moment that perfectly captured the spirit of the day and set the tone for a truly special reopening.

From the start, the centre was buzzing with energy. Smiles, laughter, and excitement filled the building as people explored the brand-new spaces for the first time. To make the occasion even more memorable, the first 100 guests received a free goodie bag, adding to the celebrations and marking the start of a brand-new chapter for Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre.

What’s Next 

We’ll soon be hosting an official launch event with our partners, Fife Council and ONFife, to celebrate the project and everything it brings to the local area. This refurbishment has been about more than construction, it’s about creating a welcoming, modern space at the very heart of the community. It’s a place where children will take their first swimming lessons, young people will find a safe and supportive environment to be active, families will share time together, and older generations will continue to stay healthy and connected.

From just £31 a month (with concessions available), members can enjoy unlimited fitness classes, full use of gyms, swimming pools and health suites, and access to all 14 venues across Fife – including Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre. 

We also offer a Club 18–24 membership at just £23.50 a month, designed to give young adults flexible and affordable access to all our venues, classes, gyms, pools, and health suites.
