Charitable trust marks first week of normal operations

We are marking the first week of normal operations following the lifting of major legal COVID restriction in line with government guidance.

We have seen the return of a full programme of services including a significant uptake in its Learn to Swim programme with nearly 6,500 participants, indoor and outdoor fitness sessions, full junior activities, and access to gyms without social distancing, as well as the availability of its soft play centres and birthday party packages.

In the past 16 weeks since our facilities re-opened following the lockdown, 430,569 attendances were recorded, with 226,045 being visits to wetside, 148, 872 indoor and 55,652 to outdoor facilities

However, we are advising customers that as it works to mitigate the financial and operational impact of the lockdowns and COVID restrictions, it will require a period of recovery to position the organisation for its long-term sustainability.

Emma Walker, chief executive of Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “It is fantastic to see our centres up and running under near normal conditions and local communities getting back to enjoying our programmes and facilities as they did prior to COVID.

“The impact of COVID has been far-reaching for the business and we would ask for customers’ support and patience, particularly around our operating hours, as we work to recover and strengthen our position so that we can get back to investing in community leisure for the benefit of local communities.”
