Discover a Career That Moves You – Fife Sports and Leisure Trust Launches Careers Events to Support Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre Reopening

Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, the region’s leading provider of sports and leisure services, is encouraging anyone interested in a career in the leisure industry to attend its upcoming Careers Day on Thursday 19th June, from 5.00pm to 7.00pm at Lumphinnans Sports Hub.

This informal drop-in event offers the opportunity to chat with staff, ask questions, and learn more about working in the leisure sector. Whether individuals are exploring a new career path, entering the workforce, or returning after a break, the event is designed to be a relaxed and welcoming space to discover the opportunities available across the organisation.

The Careers Day is part of Fife Sports and Leisure Trust’s wider recruitment efforts and is particularly focused on supporting the reopening of Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre, which is currently undergoing a major refurbishment and is expected to reopen in late 2025. Ahead of the reopening, the organisation will be recruiting for a variety of roles, including leisure attendants, group fitness instructors, swimming instructors, sports coaches, customer service positions, and operational support roles.

Calum Foster, Commercial and Events Lead for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, began his career at the age of 19 as a part-time lifeguard: “I’ve always had a passion for sport and fitness. I started out at the Beacon Leisure Centre while studying Sports and Exercise at University. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to progress through a variety of roles, and I am now proud to be leading on commercial and events.

Fife Sports and Leisure Trust is a fantastic organisation to build a career with, especially if you’re passionate about supporting others to experience the benefits of physical activity and community wellbeing.”

As the largest employer in Fife’s leisure sector, Fife Sports and Leisure Trust operates 14 venues and delivers a wide range of programmes that make a positive impact on local communities. Employees benefit from:

  • Free access to all programmes and facilities through an Active Staff card.
  • Ongoing personal and professional development opportunities.

Emma Walker, Chief Executive of Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “These events are ideal for anyone curious about a career in leisure. Whether you’re at the start of your journey or looking for a fresh challenge, we’re ready to support your next step.

With Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre currently undergoing a major refurbishment, this is a unique opportunity to be part of something truly exciting. When the centre reopens in late 2025, it will not only offer outstanding facilities but also serve as a vibrant community hub that brings people together.

We are looking for passionate individuals who want to be part of this new chapter – helping to shape an inclusive and welcoming venue that will support Fife’s wellbeing for years to come.”

In addition to the Careers Day, Fife Sports and Leisure Trust will also host a Work Inspiration Day on Thursday, 3rd July 2025, from 11.45am to 3.00pm at Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre. This hands-on event will offer attendees practical taster experiences and valuable insight into a variety of roles within the organisation.
