Fife Sports and Leisure Trust Celebrates 10 Years of Learn to Swim Success

Fife Sports and Leisure Trust is celebrating a major milestone this April, marking 10 years of delivering the National Learn to Swim Framework in partnership with Scottish Swimming and Scottish Water, helping thousands of children and adults across Fife build confidence, develop lifesaving skills and discover a lifelong love of the water.

To celebrate the anniversary, a special introductory offer will be available at Cupar Sports Centre and East Sands Leisure Centre from Thursday 23rd to Monday 27th April, giving new customers the opportunity to join the programme for just £10 for their first month.

Since launching the programme in 2016, the organisation has supported more than 80,000 swimmers on their journey and trained around 220 instructors to deliver high-quality lessons across its venues. Today, the award-winning programme supports more than 8,800 learners each week, including children, adults, and those with additional needs, and continues to play a vital role in improving health, wellbeing and water safety across local communities.

This milestone reflects not only the scale of delivery, but the lasting impact the programme has had on families across Fife, creating safer swimmers, building confidence from an early age, and opening pathways into sport.

Lee Cunningham, Activities Manager for Learn to Swim, said: “Reaching 10 years of Learn to Swim is something we’re incredibly proud of. Over the past decade, we’ve seen first-hand the difference this programme makesnot just in teaching people how to swim, but in building confidence, resilience and a real sense of achievement. This anniversary is a chance to celebrate those moments, and to thank our dedicated instructors and teams who make it all possible every single day.

Emma Walker, Chief Executive Officer at Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, added: “This milestone is a powerful reflection of what can be achieved through strong partnership working and a shared commitment. Our collaboration with Scottish Swimming and Scottish Water has enabled us to deliver a consistent, high-quality programme that not only develops swimming ability, but supports wider health, wellbeing and community outcomes. Learn to Swim plays a key role in our ambition to ensure everyone in Fife is active and well, while also contributing to the development of local talent and future opportunities within the sport.

This anniversary campaign marks the first of a series of celebrations planned throughout the year, shining a light on the people, partnerships and progress that have shaped Learn to Swim over the past decade.

To take advantage of this limited-time anniversary offer, new customers can visit Cupar Sports Centre or East Sands Leisure Centre in person or email learntoswim@fifeleisure.org.uk.
