Fife Sports and Leisure Trust Maintains Leisure Centre Opening Hours for 2024
Following the reinstatement of opening hours at four leisure centres in 2023, Fife Sports and Leisure Trust is delighted to announce that Dalgety Bay Sports and Leisure Centre, East Sands Leisure Centre, and Cupar Sports Centre will maintain their opening hours throughout 2024 to ensure the community has access to sports and leisure facilities. This excludes Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre, which will close temporarily in April for an exciting refurbishment to enhance the venue and improve the overall experience for visitors.
The decision to maintain the opening hours is part of the Trust’s ongoing commitment to promoting health, wellbeing, and community engagement through accessible sports and leisure facilities. The funding provided by Fife Council has played a crucial role in supporting this initiative, ensuring that individuals have increased access to facilities and more opportunities to lead active and healthy lifestyles in 2024.
Emma Walker, Chief Executive Officer at Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “We are thrilled to announce that our leisure centres’ opening hours will remain unchanged. We owe this to our dedicated team and the unwavering support of our community, especially in the last few years. While we acknowledge the importance of ongoing evaluation and review for our operations in 2025 and beyond, we are delighted to share a positive outlook for 2024.
We are proud to have achieved a remarkable 89% rate and had over 73,000 more visits across all our venues compared to the previous year. It is a testament to our collective resilience and determination to overcome the challenges we faced during the pandemic. We have always valued our community’s feedback, and this decision reflects our commitment to meeting their needs.
By maintaining our hours, we’re making being active more accessible and convenient for everyone.”
Fife Council Spokesperson for Communities and Leisure Councillor Linda Erskine said: “Providing access to facilities to help Fifers improve their health and wellbeing is an important priority for the council and I’m delighted that Fife Sports and Leisure Trust opening hours will continue as they are.
“We’re all committed to helping people stay healthy and happy and we will continue to work with the Trust to make sure that people have ample opportunities to lead active and healthy lifestyles. Maintaining the opening hours of sports and leisure facilities means more chances for people to get active and have fun in Fife.”
