Free Parking Trial Returns to Kirkcaldy – Here’s What It Means for You
Good news! From Saturday 1st August, you can enjoy up to four hours of free parking at Esplanade Car Parks A and B as part of an extended trial running until 31st March 2027.
We know that parking can make a difference when you’re trying to fit a gym session, swimming lesson, or family day out into a busy schedule. That’s why we’re delighted to have worked in partnership with Fife Council to support the return of free parking, helping make it easier for more people to enjoy everything the high street and Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre has to offer.
Here’s everything you need to know.
Where can I park?
You can enjoy free parking at Esplanade Car Parks A and B, a five-to-seven-minute walk from Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre.
Parking is free for up to four hours from 1st August 2026 until 31st March 2027.
After four hours, normal parking charges will apply.
Car Parking Locations

- Esplanade Car Park A – 0.2 miles
- Esplanade Car Park B – 0.3 miles
Do I still need a ticket?
Yes, even though parking is free for up to four hours, you’ll still need to collect a ticket from the parking machine and display it in your vehicle.
Why are we supporting the trial?
We’re always looking for ways to make staying active easier.
That’s why we’ve worked alongside Fife Council and contributed funding towards this extended trial. Our aim is to make visiting Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre as easy and enjoyable as possible, so you can focus on your health, wellbeing, and spending time doing the things you enjoy.
A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to share their feedback during the first trial. Your comments really did make a difference, helping us understand what matters most to our customers and supporting the case for extending the trial.
Why has the trial been extended?
The extended trial gives us the opportunity to better understand how easier parking supports people visiting Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre and the wider town centre.
The information gathered throughout the trial will help Fife Council and Fife Sports and Leisure Trust understand what works well and help inform future decisions.
