Learn to Swim Programme

Provision For Swimmers With Additional Support Needs

Fife Sport and Leisure Trust (FSLT) offers a Learn to Swim programme that is inclusive of all learners with additional support needs and where appropriate works in partnership with Disability Sport Fife (DSF).

FSLT recognises that every learner is an individual and staff will attempt/endeavour to address individual needs within the mainstream Learn to Swim programme.

If staff identify that one to one support will enhance individual learning, the presence of a family member or significant other will be encouraged during swimming lessons to support the learner. This decision will be taken by the Learn to Swim coordinators in each centre, in consultation with families.

Support For All Needs

Support For All Needs

FSLT will ensure that every teacher has access to a regular education and training programme relating to learners with additional support needs.

FSLT and DSF will provide separate sessions for learners with physical, sensory impairments or Down syndrome in specific centres only. This will be in addition to encouraging inclusive learning. Learners for these sessions must register with DSF.
