New initiative aimed at getting teenagers more active

We are now offering 14 to 15 year olds the opportunity to access our instructor-led group fitness classes.

The move comes in a bid to improve the number of young people meeting the recommended levels of physical activity of one hour per day. Research shows that only one in four young teenagers meet the target.

Evelyn Crichton, health and fitness co-ordinator for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “We know that physical activity in childhood strengthens bones, increases muscle mass and also impacts on psychological wellbeing. In addition, evidence points to increased capacity for learning, improvement in self-esteem and better stress management following participation in increased physical activity.

“The trust’s membership programme is aimed to provide a fun, motivating environment for young people to join in instructor-led fitness classes. We ask that the young person is accompanied by an adult so it’s a great way for family and friends to get active together and enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits of physical activity.”

We offer over 300 fitness classes per week, delivering the industry’s latest fitness trends such as Metafit, BodyPUMP, Zumba, group cycle and Floatfit with highly-qualified instructors.
