New Talented Athlete Programme Launched to Support Fife’s Sporting Future

Fife Sports and Leisure Trust is launching its new Talented Athlete Programme (TAP), providing aspiring athletes with access to high-quality training facilities and development opportunities across Fife. Coinciding with the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, the programme forms part of the organisation’s contribution to the wider Summer of Sport campaign, creating a lasting legacy by supporting talented athletes and inspiring more people across Fife to get involved in sport.

As excitement builds around the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, Fife Sports and Leisure Trust is using the opportunity to celebrate local sporting talent and inspire more people to get involved in sport. The Talented Athlete Programme has been designed to support aspiring athletes with access to high-quality facilities, helping them train, develop, and perform while remaining connected to their local clubs and communities.

The Talented Athlete Programme supports athletes competing at regional, national, and international level through two membership tiers, providing discounted or free access to Fife Sports and Leisure Trust facilities depending on their level of competition. By reducing barriers to training and improving access to high-quality facilities, TAP aims to help athletes perform at their best.

Colin Glencorse, Head of Operations at Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will inspire thousands of people to get involved in sport, and we want that inspiration to have a lasting impact here in Fife. Through our Talented Athlete Programme, we’re investing in local athletes by providing access to the facilities and support they need to develop, progress and achieve their potential.”

Fraser Mackenzie, Head of Sales and Commercial Development at Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, added: “We’re proud to support the next generation of sporting talent. By improving access to our facilities and creating clear development pathways, we’re helping talented athletes achieve their potential while strengthening connections with local clubs and communities.”

The Talented Athlete Programme forms part of Fife Sports and Leisure Trust’s contribution to the wider Summer of Sport campaign, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to improving health and wellbeing, increasing participation in sport, and supporting aspiring athletes across Fife.

Athletes looking for additional financial support may also be eligible for Fife Council’s Community Sports Grants, which provide funding for individual athletes, coaches and sports officials. Further information is available on the Fife Council website.
