New-look gym and fitness studios for Leven delayed to allow for wider refurbishment

We are announcing a delay to recent proposals to deliver a new-look gym and fitness studios for Levenmouth Swimming Pool and Sports Centre so that wider refurbishment works can be incorporated.

Working with Fife Council, we are set to transform the centre’s gym and studio spaces to give customers much-improved, dedicated spaces to make getting active even more enjoyable.

Now, Levenmouth Swimming Pool and Sports Centre will benefit from additional works that will see upgraded toilets, reception area and decoration to corridors. The facility closure is anticipated for October 2018, a month later than originally planned, for a period of five months with customers being advised of alternative trust venues to minimise disruption. There are also plans to move regular classes held in the sports hall to other sites.

The refurbishment is part of a Fife Council investment in local sports facilities in Leven and North Queensferry as well as Dalgety Bay where works are already underway.

Scott Urquhart, operations manager for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “The planned works for Levenmouth will deliver significant improvements for customers thanks to a more spacious gym, with almost double the floor space of the old one, fitted out with state-of-the-art Technogym and Origin Fitness equipment, with a specially-designed work-out environment.

“The proposal will also deliver a new dedicated aerobic studio space specifically for High Intensity Training classes, which will allow for a wider choice of fitness classes, and there will be disabled access improvements so that there is a fully compliant accessible changing room, refurbishment of wet and dry changing areas, including showers, and public toilets.”
