Region’s leading provider of sports and leisure services host careers open day

We are encouraging anyone interested in a job with the largest leisure employer in Fife to visit its careers open day later this month.

We’re hosting the jobs fair at Michael Woods Sports & Leisure Centre, Glenrothes on March 24 from 4 – 7pm and we’re encouraging people from across Fife to come along and find out more about a career in the leisure industry.

With 14 sites across Fife and a wide range of programmes and facilities we are looking to recruit people who are enthusiastic and passionate about customer service and the health and wellbeing benefits of physical activity.

Calum Foster, gym co-ordinator for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, started his career with the charitable trust when he was 19 years old as a lifeguard.

He said: “I’ve always had a passion for sport, exercise and fitness and I started working at the Beacon Leisure Centre as a part-time lifeguard, not long after, I took on a role as a group fitness and gym instructor and did this for four years during the time I studied at university. I graduated with a degree with Sports and Exercise Science and was lucky enough to go to a full-time position working as a lifeguard and gym instructor for the trust.

“I have been allowed lots of opportunities to be trained in a multitude of different roles such as duty manager, receptionist, and trainer assessor. I now work as the gym co-ordinator for the East Cluster and responsible for 7 different gyms.

“The trust is a great place to thrive if you love sports and leisure, customer service and believe in helping people get the benefits of physical activity.”

In addition to being part of a dynamic and community-focused organisation, employees of the trust are entitled to free access to its programmes and facilities with its Active Staff card, regular personal development training opportunities and 30 per cent discount for friends and families to Leisure Active – the trust’s low-cost membership scheme.

Emma Walker, chief executive of Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “We’d love to see as many people as possible come along to the careers open day, it’s a great way to meet some of our team, find out more about the jobs on offer and the trust’s charitable commitments to making a difference to local communities.

“Calum’s story is just one example of the opportunities available to those who are looking to make a career in the sports and leisure industry and we’re ready to welcome anyone with the right skills and experience who can help us deliver high quality sports and leisure opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.”
