Step Inside the New Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre!
The wait is nearly over! After more than a year of transformation, we’re excited to throw open the doors of the fully refurbished Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre on Monday, 29th September 2025.
From brand-new fitness spaces to expanded health and wellbeing facilities, plus fresh opportunities for children and families, the venue has been reimagined as a vibrant hub for the whole community to enjoy. And with Cowdenbeath Library now moving into the building, you’ll be able to combine fitness, learning, and community in one welcoming space.
Opening Hours
Whether you’re an early riser or prefer a weekend gym session, our opening hours make it easy to fit activity into your day. From 29th September, Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre will be open:
- Monday to Friday: 6am – 9pm
- Saturday & Sunday: 8am – 3pm.
Fitness That Pushes Limits
Cowdenbeath is now home to Fife’s very first Hammer Strength Training Centre, a world-renowned strength brand trusted by elite athletes and professional sports teams. Hammer Strength equipment is designed to move the way your body does, giving you more effective workouts whether you’re building strength, improving performance, or just starting your fitness journey. Here’s what you’ll find inside:
- Over 15 Hammer Strength machines built for durability and precision.
- A dedicated strength and conditioning zone.
- Custom Indigo Fitness squat racks.
- Life Fitness cardio favourites including treadmills, cross-trainers, upright bikes, and stair climbers.
To help you understand your progress, you’ll also have access to InBody 270 body composition scans and InGrip strength testing, with our instructors on hand to guide you through results and goal setting.
We’ve also added a brand-new fitness studio, contributing to an expanded timetable of more than 360 weekly fitness classes across our venues. Expect a mix of fan-favourites and exciting new formats, from high-intensity cardio to restorative options, all bookable up to eight days in advance.
Swimming, Coaching & Community Sport – Something for Everyone
Our refurbished pool, modernised changing village, and upgraded outdoor spaces are ready to welcome you back. Whether you’re learning to swim for the first time, joining a team on the pitch, or enjoying active time with family and friends, there’s something here for everyone. Highlights include:
- Our award-winning Learn to Swim programme, helping children and adults gain essential skills.
- A brand-new junior coaching programme with activities such as dance, racket sports, and multi-sports, with football and gymnastics coming soon.
- Family-friendly swim sessions designed for fun and time together.
- Club and block booking opportunities for community groups and competitive training.
Participants already enrolled, or those with historic bookings, will receive direct updates about schedules and start dates.
Health & Wellbeing – Fitness for Body & Mind
Our new spaces aren’t just about fitness, they’re designed to help you move more, recover well, and feel your best every day. Here’s what you can look forward to:
- A modernised health suite, the perfect place to relax and recharge.
- A refreshed sports hall, ideal for social activities such as badminton, Pickleball, and indoor football.
- A varied timetable of health and wellbeing classes, from gentle exercise to mobility and balance sessions (customers already enrolled will receive direct updates about programme changes).
Together, these facilities support long-term health and wellbeing, helping you stay socially active, recover from injury, build confidence, and enjoy feeling stronger and more energised.
Fitness, Learning & Community – All Under One Roof
We’re proud to welcome Cowdenbeath Library into the venue, creating a hub where fitness, learning, and community come together. It’s the perfect place to relax after a workout, spend time with family, or discover something new.
Alongside a wide selection of books in standard, large print, and audio formats, the library offers reading groups, local history resources, and free computer access with IT taster sessions. Families can also enjoy regular storytelling and craft activities, while practical services such as photocopying, scanning, laminating, and faxing are available on site.
