How the New Club Membership Supercharged Gemma’s Fitness Routine
Gemma, 42, from Dunfermline, is showing that it’s always possible to revitalise your routine. A dental nurse and a busy mum of two boys, aged 11 and 8, Gemma has always made time for fitness, mainly through the gym and running. But recently, her workout routine has taken an exciting new direction, thanks to the Fife Sports and Leisure Trust’s revamped membership options.
Gemma first discovered the fitness classes while scrolling through social media. A post about a class that had relocated to Carnegie during refurbishments at Cowdenbeath caught her eye, especially since these classes were now included in the Trust’s new Club membership, which she had been upgraded to.
“I was used to sticking to the gym and swimming sessions with my Silver Gym and Swim Membership, but when I saw that classes were now part of the new Club membership, I thought, why not try them?”
Like anyone trying something new, Gemma felt a bit nervous at first. The idea of a 6:30am bootcamp surrounded by seasoned fitness enthusiasts was intimidating. But being an early riser, she decided to give it a go. One of the things she values most is the sense of community she’s discovered.
“I remember being nervous before my first class. I didn’t know what to expect or whether I could keep up. But the instructors, Alan and Jack, at Carnegie Leisure Centre have been fantastic. They make everyone feel welcome and offer great tips on improving technique. The other class members are also really friendly and supportive, which makes all the difference. Now, I’m branching out and attending classes like Kettlebells, Shapes, Strength and Development, and Zumba four or five times a week, and I’m loving every minute of it! The Sunrise Bootcamp is still a highlight of my week and has quickly become one of my favourites.”
Gemma has noticed a real difference in her fitness and mood since she started the classes. She’s stronger, fitter, and feels more energised in her daily life. What used to be a quiet morning spent scrolling through her phone is now an active and fulfilling start to her day.
“I’ve seen a real improvement in my fitness. When I first started, I struggled with a 6kg kettlebell, but now I’m lifting heavier weights and managing more reps, all thanks to the confidence I’ve gained from the classes. It feels amazing to see that progress.”
Gemma has some straightforward advice for those on the fence about trying a new class or getting more active: “Just go for it. You won’t regret it. The instructors and other class members are really welcoming, and you’ll feel great afterwards. It’s the best way to start your day.”
With Fife Sports and Leisure Trust’s new membership options, Gemma is more active than ever, reminding us all that it’s always worth exploring new ways to stay fit and healthy.
