With temporary restrictions and 2-meter social distancing measures in place, our gym facilities will still offer you access to 56 stations, spread across 3 different areas, with a maximum of 30 participants at any one time.

We ask that you limit your time on any one machine or station to 20 minutes to allow everyone the opportunity to use the equipment available.

Please arrive 'gym ready' no more than 5 minutes prior to your gym session.

Our staff will be cleaning and sanitising the equipment regularly and we encourage you to clean the equipment before and after you use it to ensure every precaution is taken to stay safe while using our gym facilities. 

Please follow guidance from staff and signage within the centre throughout your visit to ensure a safe visit.

Pre-booking removal 

We're pleased to announce that because of the Perspex screens now in place in the gym, we have been able to increase capacity. 

After a successful trial at Michael Woods Sports & Leisure Centre, from Monday 12th July, customers visiting the gym will no longer be required to pre-book if visiting during the hours below.

  • Monday to Friday 6.00am - 4.00pm
  • Saturday & Sunday 8.00am - 5.00pm

Please note for the moment pre-booking will still be required from 4.00pm to close Monday to Friday.

Getting Started


Booking an induction

All our inductions are one to one appointments but we also cater for couples or friends if preferred. You can book an induction by contacting reception and they will offer you time slots as required. 


There is parking at the retail park to the rear of the centre which is free for 2 hours. Tesco also has free parking for 3 hours and there is a pay and display car park adjacent to the centre. 

What to bring

For your induction we ask that you bring gym wear, trainers or appropriate exercise footwear, a water bottle and small towel as you will be using the gym equipment. 

What time should I be there for the induction?

If you can please arrive 15 minutes before your booking slot to allow for changing and for the gym staff to complete the induction paperwork. If you are not changing can please arrive 10 minutes early.

What will happen in my induction?

A member of the gym team will meet you at reception and show you where the changing rooms and gym are. Once you are changed they will meet you in the gym. We will then ask you to read our Health Commitment Statement which outlines your responsibilities in making sure you don’t have any medical conditions that might interfere with you exercising safely before you start using the gym and our responsibilities as an operator to provide a safe environment for you to exercise in. The induction will then be based around what you want to achieve and cover the main safety points and set on the gym equipment depending on your experience. Further coaching may be required on subsequent visits depending upon the gym location and number of stations. 

What happens after my induction?

We look to review your progress after 4 weeks with a review appointment this can be booked in with the gym team if required and you can ask the gym team about programmes or to go over any gym equipment or exercise technique if required.

Who do I ask if I have any questions or need support once I start using the gym?

The gym team are there to support your long term health and fitness goals and have extensive experience in supporting our gym customers with gym programmes and with keeping their motivation levels high. They will be happy to help and advise you on making your time in the gym as enjoyable and productive as possible.
