Celebrating 10 Years of Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre!

On Saturday, the 22nd of July 2023, Fife Sports and Leisure Trust celebrated the 10th Birthday of Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre. This milestone marked a decade of promoting health, wellness, and community engagement. The event was filled with unforgettable moments that brought smiles to everyone in attendance.

The day started with the grand opening of the state-of-the-art cycle studio at Michael Woods. There was a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9am, followed by a series of exciting cycle sessions that allowed attendees to be among the first to experience the fantastic new studio. Equipped with cutting-edge sound and lighting systems, the cycle studio offered our members and fitness enthusiasts an immersive and exhilarating atmosphere.

As part of the celebration, the centre offered the first 50 new customers who registered at Michael Woods and members who referred a friend a fabulous goodie bag filled with fun merchandise. But the surprises didn't end there. A few lucky winners discovered additional prizes, including a complimentary 10-month diamond membership, a family swim pass, an activity voucher, and more. It was a fantastic way to welcome new members and reward the community for their continued support.

Adding to the festive atmosphere were Archie, Fife Sports and Leisure Trust's beloved mascot, and Geordie Munro, the Fife Flyers mascot, who made a special appearance to support the event. They brought joy to the children who participated in the Big Inflatable Takeover, making it an even more memorable experience.

And, of course, what's a birthday celebration without cake? Scott Urquhart, Head of Operations at Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, had the honour of cutting the birthday cake. He said:

"The 10th birthday of Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre was a significant occasion for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, myself, and many other staff members. We were there on day one when the centre opened its doors to the public a decade ago.

Over the years, Michael Woods has continuously adapted to meet the community's needs. The swimming scheme initially had around 600 children participating, and now we proudly welcome around 1500 children per week for swimming lessons.

The facilities have also undergone developments, including introducing an indoor football venue.

The centre's most significant achievement in the last decade is nearing the milestone of 5 million visits since its opening.

Looking ahead, the next 10 years will be dedicated to further improving the customer experience at the centre and positively impacting the Glenrothes and Fife community."

Fife Sports and Leisure Trust want to thank everyone who attended, took part in, and supported the celebration. The centre's success would not have been possible without the community's continued support, dedicated staff, and the enthusiasm of all those who have been part of this incredible journey over the last decade.

Here's to many more years of health, wellness, and community engagement at Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre.

Don't forget, from the 17th to the 31st of July, we are offering new customers the opportunity to sign up at any Fife Sports and Leisure Trust facility and pay only £10 for their first month's membership.
