Race organisers urge runners to warm up for starters orders

The long-running and popular Glenrothes Road Running Festival is set for a bumper event on June 18, celebrating its 40th anniversary and is urging runners to get involved.

We have had a long-standing relationship with the festival offering support from our Glenrothes facility, Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre, and this year we are offering a free water bottle to participants.

John Vaughan, Chair of the Olympiad Committee said: “The countdown is on and we are really looking forward to a fantastic event celebrating our 40-year history.

“The event originally started in 1983 as a half marathon and has grown in popularity and it now offers something for all ages, with a focus on fun. We would like to see as many young people from all the local schools running again in either the 200m junior jog, the 2k fun run or the 4k races.

“I would encourage anyone thinking of taking part to sign up, and we look forward to seeing as many people coming along to join in the celebrations. All runners will also receive a medal to mark the celebrations.”
